UPDATED 1/14/25:
We don’t usually groom midweek but too much snow has fallen to not compact it into base. A great problem to have! If forecast continues we’ll do another pull before the weekend. This will set up a sustainable base all season. Trail tip: To go up hills on a track, be slow and stompy, heavy on your heels, and light on your poles. Let the fish scales do the work to avoid duck walking. Better to clip off and walk to the side than wreck the track for both directions. Report any downed trees by filling out the form on our website. Learn more about the MacKenzie Trail here.
Latest Update
It's been cold all week but we received enough snow that most places didn't gain anything. The snow on top is making most areas slushy and travel more difficult. Expect to find ankle deep snow or slush in your travel. Some of the slushy spots are starting to freeze top down and creating a double layer. Still seeing a few snowmobiles and ATVs on Mitchell, nothing as big as a side x side. Future forecast shows some bitter cold after the weekend so maybe the slush will freeze up.
