Join nationally certified interpretive guide, retired fire department emergency paramedic and Cadillac’s own Mr. Edward Shaw, a true outdoorsman in every sense of the word! This unique three-day class will leave you wanting to know more about bushcraft and survival.
Learn the basics of what you need to survive in the event you ever find yourself stranded outdoors, the most important thing you need in any survival situation and how to prioritize your needs to survive. You’ll learn how to navigate your way with tools like a map and compass, along with using some natural features to get you back on track to your destination when no modern tools are available, as well as:
Some wilderness first aid.
How to safely prepare water for drinking.
Plants you can gather as wild edibles and for medicinal uses, along with which plants to avoid.
How to safely start a fire without matches. • How to make cordage (rope from plants) and some very useful knots to know.
How to make a log stove.
How to Identify animal tracks and scat.
But you’re still not done! You will also learn to shoot one of the oldest and truest tools, which propelled human survival here on Earth, the bow and arrow. You will learn from a Level 4 NTS USA Archery-certified coach and instructor, and hunter who has harvested animals from five continents. You will get to shoot a bow at a standard target, and then once you have honed your skills, you will get a chance to do a mock hunt with some life-size 3D animals in a natural setting.
And lastly, you’ll get some very helpful gear to always take with you afield to help you be prepared.
This class is geared for all ages, 8 and up, and is great for the whole family. Come make some lasting memories with your kids, your spouse or a friend, and increase your chances in the event you ever find yourself in an unexpected survival situation.
