As the second annual Camp Greensky Music Festival is set to return to Hoxeyville Festival Site June 6th through the 8th, 2019, here is some information about the event!

Camp Greensky Music Festival will be held in beautiful Wellston, Michigan surrounded by the resplendent Manistee National Forest. Three magical nights of music & camping curated by Greensky Bluegrass in Northern Michigan! Featured artists: Greensky Bluegrass, Del & Dawg, Stephen Marley, Billy Strings, Hiss Golden Messenger, Circles Around The Sun, Ghost Light, Rebirth Brass Band, Bombino, The Lil Smokies, Lindsay Lou, Joshua Davis, Dominic & Rachael Davis, and Seth Bernard.

Camp Greensky Music Festival Headliners:

Greensky Bluegrass embodies more than just music for members Anders Beck [dobro], Michael Arlen Bont [banjo], Dave Bruzza [guitar], Mike Devol [upright bass], and Paul Hoffman [Mandolin]. Truthfully, it embodies an ironclad creative bond, familial brotherhood, and a lifelong commitment to fans. At this point, it goes without saying the band means everything (and more) to the Kalamazoo, MI bluegrass mavericks.

Del McCoury met David Grisman at the first show Del ever played (on banjo) with Bill Monroe in the spring of 1963 at New York University in Greenwich Village. Three years later, Del & Dawg played their first gig together in Troy, NY at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Through the years they have shared the stage at venues and festivals across the country and in 2012 released Hardcore Bluegrass, a unique collection of bluegrass classics, made at two Dawg studio jam sessions in the 1990s, Del & Dawg celebrates the nearly 50-year bluegrass friendship that these two legendary musicians have shared.

Stephen Robert Nesta “Raggamuffin” Marley is a Jamaican-American musician who is the son of Bob Marley. Stephen is an eight-time Grammy Award winner, three times as a solo artist, twice as a producer of younger brother Damian Marley’s ‘Halfway Tree’ and ‘Welcome to Jamrock’ albums and a further three times as a member of Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers.

Billy Strings plays hard and he lives hard, picking so fast and intensely that he’s known to break multiple strings per song, and basing the songs he writes on the hard lives he grew up around in the abandoned rural communities of America. His new album, Turmoil & Tinfoil, taps into a deep vein of psychedelia in Americana, referencing everything from the Dead to Sturgill Simpson, but all underlaid by Billy’s undeniable virtuosity and his knowledge of the roots of American music. He’s one of the most beloved young bluegrass guitarists today within the bluegrass community, and his front porch in East Nashville is constantly filled up with Nashville’s best roots musicians just picking up a storm.

The Camp Greensky stage will feature many other talented artists over the course of the three days.

PUT THE GREEN IN CAMP GREENSKY

Camp Greensky is partnering with Trees, Water & People to offset your festival CO2 footprint, including the emissions required to get you here, plus a share of the festival footprint itself.  A carbon offset is a voluntary donation to Trees, Water & People that help fund tree planting and clean cookstove construction in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

Trees sequester CO2 as they grow, and our efficient cookstoves reduce the amount of firewood burned by a Central American family for cooking – reducing emissions into the atmosphere.

Camp Greensky Music Festival is committed to food integrity. From quality, local and organic ingredients to creative menus, and responsible waste management- our vendors’ offerings are a great source of pride. Bring us the best you’ve got!

Absolutely no sales of bottled or boxed water, single-use plastic drink bottles, styrofoam or other non-recyclable materials. Clean, cold FREE well water stations are located at both corners of vendor village. Our commitment to waste stream reduction and our beautiful environment demands conscious choices by all at Camp Greensky.
