Learn how to trail hunt whitetail deer and and better manage your property for wildlife habitat.

Participants will learn the skills needed to successfully transition from bait hunting to trail hunting whitetails. Additionally, participants will understand what is known about chronic wasting disease and the relative risks associated with disease transmission.

This class will cover finding good places to hunt using maps online, gear you will need, laws and regulations, scents and deer sign to improve your chances of bagging a whitetail.

Cost for the class is $30, which includes lunch, training and materials. Participation is limited to 20 students.

To register for this class, go to Michigan.gov/DNRLicenses and click on the “Purchase a license” button. Sign in (using either a username and password or your ID and birthdate), and find the class under the Outdoor Skills Academy tab.

  • Cancellations made any time after processing this reservation until the close of business two weeks prior to your scheduled arrival date will incur a 50% cancellation fee. If you cancel after the two-week deadline, no refund will be issued. Students are entitled to any of the materials purchased for the class after the two-week deadline, except materials that have a shelf life.
