Current over-all Leaf color saturation for our Region: 0-25%
Spot color is being reported in the Cadillac Area – amongst the Oak and Maple trees brilliant red/crimson and yellow/gold is popping in small bursts against the summer foliage, especially in the National Forest along the rolling hills in Routes 2 & 3 along M-55, M-115 and M-37.
Our higher elevation brings the fall cool evenings sooner kicking off the replacement of chlorophyll in the leaves, bringing Natures color to the forest earlier than the rest of NW Michigan. Enjoy nature walks on over 200 miles of year around trail systems, or take in lunch or dinner on outdoor patios along Lake Cadillac with popping colors reflecting off the lake from the NEW Dockside Inn, Burke’s Waterfront Restaurant and the After 26 Depot Cafe in Cadillac.
Estimating we are 4 weeks from PEAK, approximately first full week of October based on current forecasts.
*color change always variable due to weather changes!
