Have an itch to get outside and listen to local music? This summer the Greater Cadillac Area has multiple opportunities for you to enjoy live, local music. The Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion in downtown Cadillac is hosting live music throughout the summer, as well as many other local establishments and festivals.

The Ancient & Honorable Clam Lake Dock & Dredge Marching & Chowder Society Silver Cornet Band Mondays:  7:00 p.m. @ Rotary Pavilion (100 S. Lake St., Cadillac, MI 49601)

On Mondays come out and listen to The Ancient and Honorable Clam Lake Dock and Dredge Marching and Chowder Society Silver Cornet Band, full of local volunteer musicians that perform concert band music for free.

Born and raised in the Northern Michigan town of Cadillac, Luke Winslow King moved to New Orleans at 19 and spent the next 15 years fully immersing himself in the musical waters that flow through there with Earthwork Music founders Seth Bernard and Daniel Kahn. Adept at mixing country, blues, R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, and folk influences intuitively and masterfully, Luke shapes a mood from many sources and shepherds it to a unifying place of acceptance and hope. He has landed in front of larger audiences over the last few years while sharing the stage with the likes of Roseanne Cash, Jack White, Taj Mahal, Buckwheat Zydeco, Robert Earl Keen, Pokey Lafarge, Chris Thile, and the Rebirth Brass Band.

Cadillac Festival of the Arts – July 19-20 @ the City Park in Cadillac Commons

51st Annual Cadillac Festival of the Arts – Phyllis Olson Art Fair, held at Cadillac Commons City Park, Pavilion and new Market in Cadillac, Michigan, along beautiful Lake Cadillac. The Festival includes more than 100 artists’ booths, live music, local food booths, and the “Sherilyn Lindberg Kid’s Art.” Local, regional, and national promotion draws visitors from a wide region to attend this two-day event. We welcome all artists who exhibit the art of original concept, design, and execution. Artists are juried to ensure the highest standards for both the artists and for the viewing public. May Erlewine, usually known as a tender songwriter from the Americana scene, takes a few dates out of the year to front ‘the Motivations’ and bring you original boogie jams and classic cuts. The shows are all about coming together and celebrating each other, wherever we are at. If you are feeling the weight of the world, these concerts are meant to get you moving your body and feeling connected. The Motivations feature Phil Barry on guitar and vocals, Joe Hettinga on synth, keys, and vocals, Eric Kuhn on guitar and vocals, Max Lockwood on bass and vocals, Mike Lynch on organ and keys, Terrence Massey on trumpet and vocals, and Michael Shimmin on drums, percussion, and vocals. Willy Porter continues on a musical and personal odyssey spanning over two decades, 11 albums, and multiple continents. His live shows are guitar-driven grit, soul, silence and muscle– at times electrifying, dynamic, and unique in the way that Porter’s voice blends and fuses with his fretwork.

5th Annual Depot Music Festival— Aug. 3 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. @ Rotary Park Performing Arts Pavilion on Lake Cadillac in Downtown Cadillac 100 S. Lake St, Cadillac, MI 49601

Come and listen for free to an incredible line-up of outstanding musicians. We will be doing raffles, hosting kid’s games and activities, selling commemorative merchandise, and providing fantastic food choices. There will also be a beer and wine tent and artisan and craft booths outside.

This year’s Depot Music festival boasts headliner 1000 Watt Prophets, a Traverse City-based band with some local roots, including lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Zak Bunce and bassist/vocalist Denny Richards. Also appearing at this year’s Depot Music Fest is The American Hotel System, a rock band from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The melding of hard rock, Americana, and folk, amongst many other musical tastes.
