2024 CADILLAC AREA ORV SCENIC RIDE

A family-friendly ORV/OHV scenic ride has been created through a collaboration between the Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau and many local partner organizations utilizing open Wexford County and US Forest Service roads.

This is not a “Route” or “Trail” as designated by the US Forest Service or the MDNR. It is simply a recommended ride to find great points of interest in the Cadillac Area and experience the beauty of the Manistee National Forest.

Follow Eric Hultgren on his first ever ORV trip in Cadillac and learn just how easy it is to plan this type of adventure!

FAQ’s for the Ride

Where can I pick up a copy of this map?

Our Scenic Ride Map will be available at all points of interest along the ride shown here and at various business and lodging locations throughout the region. In addition, this map will be available at many MDOT welcome centers throughout the state.

Will there be a digital version of the map available?

YES! We are currently working with our partners to establish turn-by-turn navigation through popular ride community apps like; OnX Offroad, AllTrails, and more! As we continue to finalize these partnerships, we will be posting these offerings online when they become available. In addition, a PDF download is available of this map right now, and you may also access the USFS Motor Vehicle Use Map, showing open USFS roads in the region by downloading for free on the Avenza App.

Is this a designated route or trail?

NO. This is not a designated DNR Route/Trail and it is not a US Forest Service Route/Trail. Simply put, the scenic ride shown here is a recommended ride to great points of interest in the Cadillac Area on Wexford County and US Forest roads that are OPEN to ORV/OHVs.

I thought US Forest Service roads were closed to ORV/OHVs, are they open now?

YES, many now are open to ORV/OHV use! Effective October 1, 2021, the Huron-Manistee National Forests (HMNFs) changed the Motor Vehicle Use (MVU) designation of Forest Service roads to include Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) to allow for consistent use across the forests and other public lands statewide. This designation allows for OHV use on many HMNFs roads. Please pick up a copy of the US Forest Service Motor Vehicle Use Map for individual road closures/notices.

What requirements does my ORV/OHV need to legally ride on open County and USFS roads?

The Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau worked with state and local officials to compile instructions for ORV/OHV use. Complete details for: “Instructions for Operating on Open & Maintained Road Surfaces” as well as “Requirements & Restrictions” are available on our printed maps as well as through the Wexford County ORV ordinance and Wexford County Road Commission. Also note that all non-plated vehicles need a State of Michigan ORV License to legally ride on open County and US Forest Service Roads. Complete vehicle requirements can be found on the Michigan DNR website or contact
the Wexford County Sheriff’s Department for more information.
