We stayed July 10-12 2026 and it was a wonderful experience. The people at the desk were very helpful. The rooms had been renovated--great beds and new pillows. The room very spacious with a mini fridge and sink/faucet. The bathroom had been updated as well--was clean with great water pressure. Our only issue was the TV with no local channels, but that was more about the location. Other tv options were fine and honestly, it was nice to unplug for a couple of days. The location was perfect for us-- close to Interlochen (why we were traveling) and not too far from the Cherry Festival in Traverse City. This is a hidden gem and if we travel to MI in the future, we will stay again!

They just renovated the room I stayed and everything is new and clean. In a quite village, the experience exceeds the expectations by a mile, especially for the price. The front desk lady is very nice and helpful. I asked for an extra pillow and she walked all the way to the laundry and send it to my room. There's even a breakfast (even though simple). You can't beat the experience for the price.

We stayed Sept 11-13. our room was clean, comfortable & recently updated. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the updated room & the comfy beds. Jennifer at the desk was super friendly & helpful, she told us about the cabin remodels coming in 2027! We will be back whenever we are in need of a hotel in the area!

The room was nice, cute & very clean. The bathroom is really nice, clean as well. Both areas have been updated. My only problem was the bed. Very uncomfortable. Woke up both mornings with bad lower back pain. Very achy. Your in these rooms to get a good night sleep, especially when you've been hiking. I would recommend upgrading the beds. Have a good stay.

We were meandering around Michigan and came across the Mushroom Cap Motel by pure chance. By far, the best place we stayed in our week there. Rooms were recently remodeled, super clean! The staff was very friendly. I would definitely go back!
