Are you hosting an event and don’t see it on our website? This is the place for you. Today, I’ll guide you through the process to ensure your event makes it to us.

Q: I have an event, it has no Facebook page, or website, how can I create a Facebook event?

A: Creating an event on Facebook is step one. Our event calendar, Yodel, often picks up on events from social media, Facebook being the biggest, as it operates in some cases as a placeholder for a website.

To do so, click this link for a printable PDF with step-by-step instructions on how to create a Facebook event (this tutorial is for desktop users, but also operates similarly to mobile).

Q:  I’m not seeing my event on your website, and I posted it on Facebook. Is there a way for me to appear on your website?

A: On the Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau website, there is an option to add your events to Yodel, an event website that the CAVB pulls directly from.

First, you will migrate to the CAVB website, and click on the events tab. Then, if you click this link, you will be taken to a printable PDF that will show you step-by-step instructions proceed from there.

This ensures that your event, even if it’s not pulled by our geo-fence, can still appear on our website. A request will be sent to the CAVB, in which we will review and approve your event to appear on Yodel.

Q: I have an event that occurs every year, but it doesn’t fall on the same day. Should I mark this as a recurring event?

Events that do occur on the same day every year, do not mark as recurring. In order to be considered a recurring event, this event would have to be on the same day yearly, or the same weekend/week of every year.

If you, for example, host your event on July 4th every year, that would be a recurring event. Or, another example, you have a farmer’s market that takes place every Saturday, that is recurring, also.

Q: I want to have my event posted and/or shared on your social media, how do I go about doing that?

A: In order to appear on the social media pages of the Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau, we would ideally hope there is provided material. Whether it be promotional material, or a list of your events/days, having something already created streamlines the process.

We would also ask that the CAVB and event host have a direct line of communication and/or agreement on sharing, as we do everything we can to promote as much and as many events as possible. Emails can go to renata@cadillacmichigan.com, or jayden@cadillacmichigan.com

Q: We see your Weekend and Weekly Roundup posts both on social media AND in the newsletter, why is my event not featured on them, and how can I make sure it is?

A: First, with so many events, it’s hard to fit all of them in a quick synopsis. Secondly, we’d love to distribute more events! The CAVB is working to provide more complete lists to people, and businesses, to ensure everything is seen. The posts on social media, and in the newsletter, are results of rotation, where we try to highlight different events when we can. Using a similar approach to the last question, feel free to reach out to us if you have an upcoming event you’d like featured.

This guide should provide an overview of what is needed from those hosting and looking to share their events, as we at the CAVB would love to help market any and every event we can on our website.
