If I had to create a tagline for my disc golf abilities it would be Throw. Laugh. Repeat.
I throw; the disc goes the complete opposite way of where I wanted it to go. Yes, sometimes even behind me!
I laugh. Actually, if I’m being honest, everybody with and around me laughs. Even the squirrels!
I repeat.
The funny thing is none of that keeps me from enjoying the game. Disc golf is one of my favorite excuses to spend time outside, move my body more, and make memories with family and friends. It’s just one more way to Fuel your Soul in Cadillac, Michigan.

Why You’ll Love Disc Golf
Low Cost – Did you know that the Cadillac Wexford Public Library rents out equipment? You can try out the sport to see if you like it before investing any money into equipment. If you’re ready to purchase your own gear, a few local shops – including Twisted Bones AVS, and Dunham Sports – are now carrying discs and accessories. Paulina Sutton, an experienced local player and a founding member of the TC Chickadees women’s league, suggests starting with a couple of lower speed discs like putters and midranges to learn how they fly and feel before investing in a bunch of discs.
Gets Your Body Moving – A typical 18-hole round covers about two miles on foot, making disc golf a fun, low-impact way to enjoy the outdoors while getting your steps in. Note: some people may have to move more than others, depending on where their disc is thrown.
Make Memories – This is a sport that can be enjoyed alone, or with family and friends. Fun for all ages and athletic abilities, feel free to bring a posse of people with you. It’s a great excuse to wander the woods.

Cadillac and the surrounding areas host sixteen different disc courses with varying degrees of difficulty. With this many courses so close, you can easily spend an entire weekend playing different courses, and still have time to visit downtown, to grab a coffee & snack, a meal, shop for souvenirs, and enjoy everything else Northwest Michigan has to offer. Another Reason for Excitement About Disc Golf in Cadillac
One of Cadillac’s newest reasons for disc golf excitement is The Hive at Baker College, a new course officially opening on June 25, 2026, it has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. According to Paulina Sutton, “it offers a little bit of everything: tight wooded fairways, open field shots, and fun elevation changes. It’s a fun layout that I think plays well for every skill level, from beginners to pros.”
Speaking of beginners, Paulina’s advice to them is to just get out and throw! Don’t be afraid to join a league either. The more you play, the better you will get and watching others throw as well as seeing their playing strategy will only improve your game.
Wondering how you can get more information on area courses?
The Cadillac Area Disc Golf Club Facebook group is a wealth of knowledge for those experienced disc golfers as well as those just getting started. They do a great job of posting updated information regularly on their page. League night details, upcoming tournaments, and course information are some of the things that you will be included on if you join the group.
The UDisc app was recently recommended to me as a must-have app for disc golf enthusiasts. This app will find area courses, make course recommendations based on your abilities, provide a list of area events and leagues, as well as keep track of your scores. You can even find the locations of the stores mentioned above that carry disc golf equipment in this app!
