Follow along with us each week when Caddy explores the Cadillac area with an A to Z look at all the fun things to see and do. This week…L is for Lilly! Our newest CAVB team member.

I’m going to turn it over to her this week and she can give you a proper introduction!

Hello!

I am Lilly Franklin, the new Marketing Assistant for the Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau. I am a junior at Ferris State University and my hometown is Newaygo, MI. Watching Caddy go on his adventures inspired me to explore the beautiful community of Cadillac. After staying in Cadillac for a couple nights, I collected many great memories and experiences! Here are a few of my favorite highlights during my adventures.

The Sweet Shop
On Mitchell Street in Downtown Cadillac, there is a wonderful store full of all the candies you could imagine. The sweet aroma that hits you when you first walk through the door is enticing enough to keep you coming back for more. The Sweet Shop’s signature candy is called a Snowbird, a mix of white chocolate and pecans. From taffy, to fudge, to nuts, this cute stop has everything you could ever dream of. My favorite finds were the Cadillac Boulders, Caberfae Slopes, and Chocolate Caramel Bear Paws. The Sweet Shop also has delicious caramel apples that are available year round! Besides the wonderful products, there is also amazing service from this store! The employees are very friendly and happy to help. If you are looking to do more than browse their delectable treats, you can also schedule a small candy making class with their staff!

Michigan Coffee Co.
In Cadillac West, not far from the canal, there is a wonderful cafe called the Michigan Coffee Co. Whether you are a student looking for a place to study, or you are looking for a comfortable place to relax, this restaurant is a great fit for you! From the cozy atmosphere, to the homey food menu and the variety of drinks, you will fall in love with this cafe. Michigan Coffee Co. has a large selection of flavors, hot drinks, and specialty drinks! If you need caffeine, but dislike coffee, you can order their Red Bull Italian Cream Soda and choose flavors to add to it! Along with your drink and food, do not hesitate to browse their bakery case for some tasty treats! This stop has a wide variety of house-made snacks and desserts. If you are looking to try their amazing menu, but do not have time to sit down and order, this amazing cafe has a drive thru window! Overall, this is the perfect place to stop for lunch around the lakes.

Kenwood Heritage Park
When visiting Cadillac, there is much more to do than shop and eat. Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell are a must see when you come by! Kenwood Heritage Park is a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors along Lake Cadillac. Among the provided grills and benches, there is also a pavilion for some shade from the sun or shelter from a little rain. The bathrooms are located in a building between the pavilion and the park beach. This park also has a disc golf course! If you are looking to take advantage of the nature and beauty of Cadillac, Kenwood Park is a lovely option. There is a building for bathrooms and showers, as well as a gorgeous deck to enjoy Lake Cadillac. The state campground is very close by, just on the other side of the Canal. Each campsite has a fire ring and a picnic table, all with views of the lake. This upcoming summer, this area will be a lovely place to enjoy the nature and outdoor Cadillac.

Obviously there are more wonderful businesses and activities to discover and I can’t wait to do more exploring! Whether you are looking to shop, eat, stay, or enjoy the outdoors while you are in Cadillac, there are so many wonderful options.
